Vladimir Obryvkov, an associate professor at Voronezh State Agricultural University in Russia, has found a five- eared cat named Luntya.
Obryvkov has been studying animals with physical anomalies for many years. His students have brought him a number of unusual animals, such as a calf with two heads and two hearts, four-legged chickens, a pig with a trunk, and a horse with two noses and three eyes, all from the villages of the Voronezh Region and the surrounding areas. But the academic had never seen a cat like this one before.
“The cat has two normal ears, two extra ears are turned 180 degrees and there is a tiny fifth ear,” said Vladimir Obryvkov to RIA news agency.
The scientist originally took the cat to X-ray its unusual ears but decided to take her home to his children.
Obryvkov said that Luntya also has big paws but her behavior does not differ from that of normal cats.
He also said that he wants to mate his new pet with a four-eared cat living in Vladivostok to create a new breed of these fluffy animals.
