Boston Bruins defenseman Andrew Ference could face a fine for as much as $2,500 for flipping the bird to Montreal Canadiens fans, depending will NHL office believe the video or his apology, reports Pro Hockey Talk.
Ference scored the Bruins second goal in their dramatic Game 4 5-4 comeback victory over Canadiens (series tied 2-2) at Bell Centre, but was caught on camera with his left middle finger raised in the air as part of his goal celebration.
“Coach just showed me it and it looks awful. I can assure you that’s not part of my repertoire. I don’t know if my glove got caught up. I can assure you, that’s not part of who I am or what I ever have been,” Ference said after the match.
