Beautiful Virus Art: Glass Microbiology Sculptures by Luke Jerram (Picture Gallery)
Bizarre — By Dave on 2011/06/13 7:43 PM
Just in case you had hard time visualizing what E.coli bacteria looks like, artist Luke Jerram makes wonderful glass sculptures that try to capture the beauty of some of the world’s most deadly viruses.
The virus sculptures are approximately 1,000,000 times larger than the actual viruses and are designed in consultation with virologists from the University of Bristol, using a combination of different scientific photographs and models. They are made in collaboration with glassblowers Kim George, Brian Jones and Norman Veitch.
