Baby Okapi Mchawi, Antwerp Zoo

Meet Mchawi, a baby okapi from Antwerp Zoo in Belgium. Mchawi, which means ‘wizard’ in Swahili, is the seventh okapi living in Antwerp Zoo.

Despite zebra-like stripes, the okapi is a member of the giraffe family, with tongues so long they are able to wash their own eyelids and clean their ears inside and out.

The only country where they can still be found in the wild is the Democratic Republic of Congo.
