An eel swam up a Chinese man’s penis and into his bladder during a trip to the beauty spa.
Zhang Nan, a 56-year-old man from Honghu, China’s Hubei province, was bathing with live eels because he hoped this unusual treatment would make him look younger.
The ‘eel cleanse’ was supposed to get rid of the dead skin on his body. Instead, one eel decided to enter his body through the urethra. It swam up Nan’s penis and into his bladder.
‘I climbed into the bath and I could feel the eels nibbling my body. But then suddenly I felt a severe pain and realised a small eel had gone into the end of my penis,’ Zhang Nan said to Chinese media.
‘I tried to hold it and take it out, but the eel was too slippery to be held and it disappeared up my penis.’
Zhang rushed to the hospital, where doctors were able to remove the six-inch eel after a three-hour operation. The eel did not make it.
‘The diameter of the urethra in a man’s penis is just a little narrower, but because eels are quite slippery, its body worked as a lubricant and so it got into the penis smoothly,’ surgeon Jin Wang said.
