Officials from the Guinness Book of Records confirmed Amge as the world’s new shortest living woman on her 18th birthday. Jyoti celebrated it with a cake that is almost the same size as her.
Surrounded by family, including her proud mum Ranjana, emotional Jyoti was presented with a framed certificate which came up to her chin.
She said: “It’s been my dream to be recognized as the world’s smallest woman for many years!”
Jyoti weighs just 12lbs (5.5kg) – only 9lbs more than she did at birth – and has a form of dwarfism call achondroplasia, which stopped her growing after her first birthday.
But Amge is every bit an 18-year-old woman, attending a regular high school and dreaming of becoming a Bollywood star. She will star in two Bollywood movies next year, according to Guinness.
The record for the shortest woman in history remains with Pauline Musters, who died in 1895 at 2 feet tall even.
