Guy Laramee's Carved Book Landscapes

Artist Guy Laramee has carved books into impressive landscapes for two series entitled The Great Wall and Biblios, excavating dense pages of old books that are slowly falling apart, such as old encyclopedias and dictionaries, to reveal romantic mountains and structures.

Laramee’s carved books are his metaphor for the degradation of human culture. His premise is that knowledge is gained by erosion instead of accumulation.
