Stella the Yellow Lab has a funny way of stopping on grass while playing fetch. It’s a canine brake technique called ‘stop, drop and drool’.

That dog isn’t “stopping,” she has a serious spinal cord problem.

No, she doesn’t! Are you a vet that examined this dog? She is healthy and perfectly fine!

      • FarmFamily

No she’s not. She has spinal compression and if she isn’t treated the problem will only get worse.

So you are not the vet that has seen this dog in person then.

          • FarmFamily

No, but any qualified vet will make the same conclusion. The dog isn’t stopping, her spinal cord is pressing on the nerves which control movement in her back legs.

so you are a vet? Which university, what year did you finish and where’s your office?

          • FarmFamily

Cornell, Class of 72′ retired. Seen way too many dogs like this. Without treatment she’s heading for paralysis.

Maybe you should speak to the video uploader then and express your concerns to her. From what I know the dog has been at the vet and was declared healthy.

Sadly, that is not the case. It may look “funny” and “cute” but it is really animal abuse to not get that dog the care it needs. She’s a young animal, with treatment she should be able to recover. But left like that eventually she will totally lose the use of her back legs.
