A Canadian couple is lucky to be alive after lightning struck their car, Saturday afternoon. Al and Betty Perry were driving on Highway 14 near Tofield, Alberta, when their Chevy pickup truck was turned into a fireball. The dramatic moment was caught on a surveillance video. A hero cat saved a little boy from a vicious dog attack in Bakersfield, California. Roger Triantafilo‘s 4-year-old son was riding a bike in their driveway when he was attacked by the neighbor’s dog. Right away the family cat jumped to the boy’s rescue, chasing the dog away. According to reports, the boy was taken to a hospital and received 10 stitches, while the dog was picked up by animal control and will be put to sleep.
Adam Fisk hooked an 11-foot hammerhead shark while fishing in his kayak off the coast of Florida. The shark dragged him out to sea and towed him for two hours before he finally cut the line. He filmed parts of his adventure with a GoPro camera, and at 4:27 you can even see a shot of the second hammerhead who was following his kayak!
A hippo rescued a wildebeest (aka gnu) that had been attacked by a crocodile on the Mara River in Kenya. The rare moment was caught on camera by Israeli photographer Vadim Onishchenko, who told Daily Mail that he saw the gnu escape the water and that it seemed to be uninjured.
Two mountain bikers had a scary close encounter with a grizzly bear sow that charged at them while riding the trails of Jasper National Park in Alberta, Canada. A cat was rescued by a hero sailor after somehow getting stuck under HSC Gotlandia II ferry in Visby, Sweden. Johan Skärkarl put on a survival suit and jumped into the icy water, grabbed the cat and swam back with it on his stomach. The rescue operation was filmed by his colleague Stellan Stenberg:
