I said I wouldn’t post timelapse videos while I’m on vacation but this one is simply too beautiful to pass. Please take some time to watch these stunning northern lights:
A team of scientists launched an instrument-laden rocket into northern lights display on Saturday, February 18th. The two-stage Terrier-Black Brant rocket was blasted from the Poker Flat Research Range in Fairbanks, Alaska. Funded by the NASA, the mission is studying electrical activity in the aurora borealis and the likelihood it’s interfering with GPS and other signals.

Prepare to be stunned thanks to the photographer Terje Sorgjerd who spent a week capturing what he called one of the biggest aurora borealis shows in recent years.
