Felix Baumgartner successfully completed his record-setting space jump! Baumgartner landed in New Mexico desert after jumping from his capsule at 128,100 feet, or roughly 24 miles. The Austrian daredevil skydiver achieved the fastest ever freefall speed of 833.9mph (Mach 1.24) and became the first man to break the sound barrier.

A team of scientists launched an instrument-laden rocket into northern lights display on Saturday, February 18th. The two-stage Terrier-Black Brant rocket was blasted from the Poker Flat Research Range in Fairbanks, Alaska. Funded by the NASA, the mission is studying electrical activity in the aurora borealis and the likelihood it’s interfering with GPS and other signals.

Pilot JR Hott of Panhandle Helicopters captured this strange looking cloud formations in Panama City Beach, Florida. The spectacular ‘condo fog’ forms along the waterfront when moist, warm air blows in off the Gulf of Mexico. As the condo buildings force the air to climb, the slight cooling from the change in altitude is just enough to bring the air to its saturation point, creating a personal fog bank.
